Life begets life. God created all organic life for procreation. Flowers and fruit; fish and fowl; beasts and birds--and male and female persons to “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it," (Gen. 1:28).
The fruit of the Spirit evidences the life of Christ within you, namely, "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control," (Gal. 5:22-23). Without that, nobody will listen to us. Yet, if we do not speak up, nobody can listen to us! The fruit of our service expresses the love of Christ from us.
We reproduce according to our kind. Believers generate new believers. If we are not reaching people for Christ and seeing them spiritually birthed into God's forever family by the Gospel, we have lost our purpose and failed in our mission.
Here is a haunting question from Dr. Jeff Iorg, President of Gateway Seminary, "Did your church have more adults baptized than buried last year?"
