The gathering of over 2000 NC Baptists and guests in Greensboro has concluded. Though our churches can always do better, there are many reasons to celebrate how God is working through us. The Pastor’s Conference was entitled, “Ordinary Gospel Men,” and was a reminder that God does do His extraordinary work through ordinary preachers. A recent study revealed that 80% of American adults have never read the Bible through. We may hope that in our churches, that statistic is better--but I doubt very much. In conversations with professing Christians, I find the lack of understanding of fundamental doctrines and Biblical stories shocking. There is a cure--READ YOUR BIBLE! There are several issues. We do not read much--of anything. Our government schools have been better at indoctrination with secularism than edu
