APRIL SHOWERS?

"April showers bring May flowers." So the old saying goes. The problem is that we may expect few flowers at this point for a lack of rain. We sorely need it. We ought to pray for it. Scripture warns us that one way God gets a wicked nation's attention is by turning off heaven's faucet.
Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them, lest the Lord’s anger be aroused against you, and He shut up the heavens so that there be no rain, and the land yield no produce, and you perish quickly from the good land which the Lord is giving you. (Deut. 11:16-17 NKJV)
The literal drought can illustrate the spiritual drought also.
O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water. (Ps. 63:1)
Are you spiritually dry? Is your soul wilting? God will create such conditions to make us thirsty and desperate. We dare not take Him for granted! Here is the response He demands:
When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chron. 7:13-14)
Lord, send the rain!
