Psalm 19 begins this way:
The heavens declare the glory of God;
Day unto day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech nor language
Where their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth,
In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,
Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.
Its rising is from one end of heaven,
And its circuit to the other end;
And there is nothing hidden from its heat. (v.1-6)
The skies--the sun and stars are faithful to declare the glory of the Creator. Are we? How often do we begin our day by reflecting on His glory? Do we start out by praising Him for His glorious Being? Then, do we speak of God's glory throughout our waking hours and meditate on His glory as we drift off to sleep?
Old Charles Wesley got it and penned this hymn entitled "Christ Whose Glory Fills the Skies" :
1 Christ, whose glory fills the skies,
Christ, the true and only Light,
Sun of righteousness, arise,
triumph o'er the shade of night;
Day-spring from on high, be near;
Day-star, in my heart appear.
2 Dark and cheerless is the morn
unaccompanied by Thee;
joyless is the day's return,
till Thy mercy's beams I see,
till they inward light impart,
glad my eyes, and warm my heart.
3 Visit then this soul of mine,
pierce the gloom of sin and grief;
fill me, radiancy divine,
scatter all my unbelief;
more and more Thyself display,
shining to the perfect day.
For His Glory,
