Here is a message about pastors and for pastors.
I have been an interim pastor for nearly half a century. My shortest term has been four months and my longest twenty-five years! Here is the reality: all pastors are interim pastors. Even if you go to one church and stay for a lifetime, there will be an ending date. You may leave in a moving van or in a hearse, but you will vacate the pulpit eventually. It may align with your will or against your will, but it will happen sooner or later.
The question is, "What legacy will you leave?" Will there be footprints to follow? With this in mind, I plan to deliver a series of messages from Paul's final letter--2 Timothy. My intention is to share these under the theme, "Finally..." on Monday, May 1, 8, 15, and 22 in our Pastors' Conference that meets at our Associational Office at 10 AM.
The challenge from Paul is:
HOLD ON, Chapter 1
BE STRONG, Chapter 2
KEEP TRUE, Chapter 3
LOOK UP, Chapter 4
Pastor, I encourage you to be here. It is an enriching and encouraging time of fellowship. If you are not a pastor, please make sure he is aware of this opportunity. I know that pastors are busy and a number of our men are employed in jobs outside the church, so I hope to record these.
For the Cause of Christ,
Dennis Thurman, Mission Strategist
