So, this Thursday is another Thanksgiving Day. It is a good thing to give thanks! The Bible tells us that we are to have an attitude of gratitude not just on a holiday, but every day! "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him," (Col. 3:17).
I thought of this acrostic for why I am grateful:
G--Grace. I thank God for His amazing grace that saved a wretch like me. My eyes look to Golgotha where Jesus died in my place!
R--Resurrection. Jesus died, but the grave could not hold Him! I thank God that He lives, as I look back to an empty grave!
A--Ascension. Jesus died, rose, and ascended. He ever lives to make intercession for me. I thank Him as I look up to my High Priest!
T--Triumph. Christ died, rose, ascended, and is returning! I look up and expect Him to come in power and glory!
E--Eternity. Christ died, rose, ascended, is returning, and will take us to our eternal home.
F--Freedom. In heaven with Jesus, we will be free from suffering, sorrow, and sin! What a day that will be!
U--Understanding. "For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I am also known," (1 Cor. 13:12). There is so much that bewilders us here, but we will understand it better by and by!
L--Love. In glory, faith will no longer be needed, for faith will become sight. Hope will no more be required, for hope will be fulfilled. "But the greatest of these is love," (1 Cor.13:13b) for love will never end. It will be the experience of eternity!
Aren't you grateful?
Happy Thanksgiving!
