HOLD ON!

If you knew that today would be your last day on earth, what would you want to say to those you love? Eight people walked into a Mall in Allen, Texas last Saturday, planning to shop, but would not walk back out because a gunman took their lives. Were they prepared to meet God? We better be, for we do not know what awaits us around the corner. This week, I heard of a young couple, just married and as they left after the wedding a drunk driver, hit them and killed the new bride, and the last I heard the groom and two others were seriously injured.

What would I want you to know if I knew this would be my final communication with you? For several weeks (with an occasional interlude, I will be sharing what I think is most important for it is rooted in Paul's last letter to Timothy. The Apostle was on death row and wanted to give his young protege some final instructions for the church. His first call is to “Hold on.”

"Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus." (2 Tim. 1:13 NKJV)

How can we hold on? That will be our conversation in days to come.

Holding Fast to the One Who Holds Me Fast,
