NOT MUCH I CAN DO...

Have your ever heard--or maybe said--"There's not much I can do, but at least I can pray!" Do not think that and do not say that! There may be much to do after you pray, but nothing until you pray. Praying is vital. If that is all we can do, then that is a lot. When I work, I can only do what I can do, but when I pray, God works and does what He wills to do and nothing is better than that!

We look at the cultural rot and crisis headlines and are tempted to throw our hands up in despair. Why don't we lift holy hands in prayer, as Scripture commands us? With this in mind, I wanted to make you aware of a prayer meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 26, at 6:30 PM in front of the Haywood County Courthouse. There are many protest marches taking place, "pride" events being organized, and such--can God's people not assemble for prayer?

While we call for this wicked nation to repent, we must begin as God's people to confess our sin and seek God's mercy. Remember this: "For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?" (1 Pet. 4:17).

If you cannot be there, set aside time to pray where you are. Our prayers will only be a formality without fervency. This is the promise: "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." (James 5:16).

Yours in Seeking God,

Dennis Thurman, Mission Strategist
