Jesus said, "Many are called, but few are chosen," (Matt. 22:14). A fellow got that verse mixed up and quoted it this way, "Many are cold and a few are frozen." Given the weather lately, I sympathize. But, it is a bit warmer today, though still winter. Spring will come and the thaw will be complete.
I wish I could say that for the spiritual climate in too many churches. Polar bear preachers and igloos called pews--and we wonder that the nation is plunging into the abyss!
Our Lord spoke of such days when He said, "And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold," (Matt. 24:12).
If you do not tend the fire, it will eventually go out. You have to fuel it, stir it up, and then the heat will be generated. We fuel the fire with passionate prayer, zealous worship, regular Bible study, and fervent witness. We use the poker of God's Word to chunk up the hardened, blackened logs of our soul with repentance. The breath of the Holy Spirit can reignite the flames!
I need to look at my own heart, and cry out to God. Lord, I do not want to be among the frozen chosen!
Praying for a Thaw,
