THE LATEST

Here is the latest update for Tropical Storm Fred response:

FBC Canton - we are partnering with FBC Canton to assist them in cooking and serving meals to a local soup kitchen. We will also prepare and serve meals to any volunteers who come to serve at our recovery site. A small feeding team is on their way to Canton. We are also providing a shower/laundry unit for volunteers as well as washing clothes for the community. A water tanker filled with potable water will arrive today to serve the community with their water needs. We will have admin and logistics volunteers helping manage the site.

Crestview Baptist Church - We are setting up a Disaster Recovery Operations Center at Crestview Baptist in Canton. This will be the base site for all recovery work and will be the main lodging for volunteers serving in mud-outs and tear-outs. We will also deploy a shower/laundry unit for volunteers use and also a larger laundry unit to minister to the larger community. Admin volunteers will assist at this site as well. We will also house volunteers at a number of other local Baptist Churches.

Feeding - We are still determining additional feeding needs and will update as we can.

When people want to volunteer, please have them go to the website to sign up https://baptistsonmission.org/Mission-Projects/By-Mission-Type/Disaster-Relief/Tropical-Storm-Fred . We will be in touch with them as soon as we can.

If people call wanting to donate funds, please direct them to the website www.baptistsonmission.org . Memo line: Western NC Flood.

If people want to donate goods, we are not set up to take goods to the affected areas. They can check with the Red Cross, Salvation Army and Haywood Baptist Association for those needs.
