MIXED EMOTIONS

I heard someone define mixed emotions as, "Seeing your mother-in-law drive over a cliff in your new car!" Now, my mother-in-law was great, so that would not apply.

What is not a joke are the mixed emotions I feel. It is always a reason to celebrate when one of our Haywood Baptist churches calls someone who can employ their excellent gifts in ministry. Yet, the sad part is that their gain is someone else's loss.

So, this week Calvary Road Baptist Church called our Associational Administrative Assistant, Karen Holcomb, to be their Children's Ministry Director. She will do a wonderful job. Karen served in the same capacity with distinction on our staff when I pastored Pole Creek Baptist Church.

BUT--we are going to miss her! Karen has not been with us long, yet has been so productive during her tenure. She has agreed to help us on Tuesdays to keep the bills paid and communications flowing to some degree and be available to help train the next person. Give her a call and/or send her a card letting her know how grateful you are for her work here.

If you known someone who would be gifted in communications and finances who would work around 20 hours a week, let me know.

Thanks Karen! We love you and your sweet family--husband Bron, and sons Jackson and Caleb. Our prayers are that God will use you powerfully and productively as you work with parents and children in Maggie Valley and beyond.

Yours with Mixed Emotions,

Dennis Thurman, Mission Strategist
