REASONS TO REJOICE

We all have reasons to rejoice. Too often we are given to expressing gripes instead of gladness! Are you a glass half-full or half-empty kind of person?

Truth is, my cup is running over! Last week, I had the privilege of meeting with ten of our bi-vocational pastors. Others wanted to come but had scheduling conflicts. It was a great time of fellowship. They encouraged me, and I hope I did them. My desire was to communicate how much we value these men of God and the smaller churches (attendance-wise) they serve. They gave me feedback on ways the association can support them. Our plan is to have a meeting once per quarter. They were enthusiastic about the possibility.

Then, our fifth-Sunday night gathering at Dellwood was a wonderful time of worship. Pastor Bobby Rogers and that congregation were gracious hosts. Associate Pastor Shawn Porter did a phenomal job in putting together the music. It was well-attended, despite the fact that a number of churches could not participate because of their commencing Vacation Bible School, and some other churches that had already planned another joint service. I was blessed to be asked to deliver the sermon and the people were attentive, receptive, and responsive. To God be the glory!

So, in the midst of the challenges we face as churches, don’t forget that God is at work!

Yours in Serving Him,

Dennis Thurman, Mission Strategist
